TRAINING MATRIX

The purpose of s Safety Training Program is to provide a complete and clear description of safety responsibilities for all employees. It is important, for everyone in the company, to understand their responsibilities.

All levels of management and supervision are charged with the responsibility of preventing conditions that could lead to occupational injuries or illness. While the ultimate success of our safety and health program depends upon the full cooperation of each employee, it is management’s responsibility to see that safety and health rules and procedures are adequate and enforced, and to see that effective training and education programs are employed to the best advantage.

One effective tool is to establish an annual Training Matrix which both identifies training needed and also establishes an accountability schedule. We provide a sample Training Matrix here.

Baldwin EH&S works with managers and supervisors to establish a Training Matrix to meet company goals.

TRAINING TRACKING

Maintenance of training records is a requirement of OSHA and other regulatory agencies. Complete records are one of the most important resources in documenting compliance with your Safety Policies & Procedures.

Your Baldwin EH&S representative works alongside the safety coordinator or office manager to ensure the following records are kept up-to-date:

  • New Hire Safety Orientation
  • Formal OSHA Employee Safety Training Records
  • Clock-Talk / Tail Gate Safety Meetings
  • Specialized Safety Training
  • Environmental Training

A Tracking Log will be established of all employees and their level of training. The Tracking Log will enable managers and supervisors to track their department’s safety training needs.

  • Each training document must include: attendance’s name & signature, date of the training, topics discussed and instructor’s name
  • The Tracking Log will be maintained in the safety files and is a legal record of compliance.

TASK / EQUIPMENT SPECIFIC TRAINING

The purpose of this program is to establish guidelines for the safe operation of Powered Industrial Trucks:

  • Forklifts
  • Skid Loaders
  • Rough Terrain Forklifts
  • Back-hoes and Excavators

Powered Industrial Trucks are powerful vehicles designed to handle heavy loads. Operating one of them is serious business and recklessness or carelessness will create dangerous situations that could lead to accidents, injury, or death. Safe operation is a big responsibility and accidents can be avoided.

A professional operator understands how these trucks operate, is familiar with company rules and safe operating procedures, completes the pre-shift inspection form, uses safety equipment (seat belt), and keeps the vehicle under control at all times.

Let Baldwin EH&S conduct your next Powered Industrial Truck training class and you will see the difference in results.
